On what basis did you ask them to extend the PMP eligibility?
I know this is an old post, but in case anyone is still having this issue, I was able to get a 3 month extension by dong a live chat with an agent on the PMI website after logging in. It was very simple, I asked and they said ok and put it through.
I have never heard that PMI has extended someone's one-year eligibility period. I checked the PMP handbook just now and there is no mention about extensions. Just that "the period is one year", which is repeated several times.
