Hi! I need some clarity. I’m gearing up for the PMP exam and I already started with the PMBOK 6th Edition. I took a break for a while and now there's a 7th edition. How far off are the 2 editions from each other??

I want to make sure I’m prepping the right way so here are some things I need more insights on:

> How much has the exam actually changed since this update?
> Should I focus more on Agile and hybrid approaches now?
> Any other essential resources for someone trying to bridge the gap between editions?

For those who’ve recently taken (or passed!) the PMP exam... what worked for you? Would love to hear it.

I totally get where you're coming from. The shift from PMBOK 6th Edition to 7th Edition was CHALLENGING.

So I wanna help you out by answering your big questions:

> Changes in the exam: The exam has shifted to reflect the principles-based approach of the 7th Edition. This means you're gonna have to focus on understanding its underlying principles and how they apply to various project scenarios. Meaning, memorizing processes is a no-no.

> Focus on Agile and hybrid approaches: Yep, it's definitely a good idea to focus more on Agile and hybrid approaches, since these are becoming more critical in today's project management landscape. Understanding how to apply these methodologies will be your saving grace.

Many passers found success by combining these courses with hands-on practice and real-world application of the principles.

This topic has been extensively discussed in a prior thread.

Refer to: www.project-management-prepcast.com/kune...ok-for-pmp-exam-2022

Highlights:
  • Project management knowledge and concepts as described in PMBOK6 are still valid/valuable and is now part of PMI Standards+, more specifically The Process Groups: A Practice Guide
  • The PMP exam is not a test of the PMBOK Guide. It is based on what is in the latest PMP exam content outline and many references. It would behoove you to include both PMBOK7 and PMBOK6/The Process Groups: A Practice Guide in your exam prep.
