Hello,

Could anyone clarify my doubt, please?
The old exam had 200 questions - 90 questions in the first part and 110 questions in the second one.
Now with the new 2021 version, how many questions will we have before and after the 10 min break?

Thank you

Hi!

I cannot tell how the questions will be organized for the new exam. One thing I know is that the new exam includes 180 questions and you will have 230 minutes to complete the exam.
Based on what PMI states on its website, it looks like there will be one additional break, for a total of two 10-min breaks for the online exam (see www.pmi.org/certifications/project-manag...ion/pmp-exam-updates ). Unfortunately, the FAQs on PearsonVUE website do not seem to be up-to-date and aligned with the new exam policies, as the last update was Dec 7th.

Hope this helps a bit,

Gabriella

Thank you, Gabriella! I've failed the exam in December because of the time that I couldn't manage well and my desperation made me answer the remaining questions faster without the proper thinking during the second round.
Now I will need to retake it.

Oh no, sorry to hear that!
Indeed, time management is crucial... I tried to practice with the simulator by selecting 90/100 questions in the timed mode, then took a 10-min break, and started another set of 110/100 quizzes to mimic the second part of the exam.
I also realized that the time of the day impacted my performance: I used to practice the full exam in the afternoon because it was easier for me to have 4 hours uninterrupted; however, I was super tired already after 2-2.5 hours. When I moved it to the morning, I was able to get to the end of the practice exam with higher concentration. Maybe you can try it too. Just keep in mind that it is highly subjective: some people perform better in the afternoon and some other in the morning. After a few consistent observations, I decided to schedule my exam at the time of the day when I tended to perform better.

Fingers crossed for your next exam,

Gabriella

Will there be 25 additional test questions that will be excluded from the 180 question exam?

@ Duon,

No. The 180 questions on the exam are as follows:
- 5 pretest questions that do not count toward your score
- 175 scored questions that count toward your score

Note that there is no indication on the exam about which questions are the 5 that do not count. Your best approach is to assume that each question counts.

The total question is 180, is divided into 3parts, you have two time break of 10mins each. The exam is more difficult than 2020, the questions are lengthing required you to read twice and thinking along . Please don't joke with this new version of pmp.

@My Phan

Please watch this video here: traffic.libsyn.com/secure/pmpodcast/B00....urse_Live_Stream.mp4 This is the video in which I introduce our new Booster Course and in-between each topic I show slides with lessons learned from the 2021 exam. There aren't many yet, because the exam is so new, but this is what we have for now.
