The Project Management Institute (PMI) is updating the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® exam, with significant changes taking effect on November 8th, 2024. Whether you're currently studying or planning to start your preparation, these updates will impact your path to certification. In this episode, we break down everything you need to know about the upcoming changes and how they affect you.

*Key Changes to the PMI-ACP Exam:*
- Exam Date Change: The last day to take the current exam format is November 7th, 2024. The new exam format begins on November 8th, 2024.
- New Exam Domains: The exam domains are streamlined from seven to four: Mindset, Leadership, Product, and Delivery
- Increased Training Hours: Training requirements are increasing from 21 to 28 contact hours of formal project management education.
- Experience Requirements Update:
Old Requirement: 12 months of general project experience within the last 5 years and 8 months of agile project experience within the last 3 years.
New Requirement: 3 years of agile project experience within the last 5 years.
Reduced Experience Option: If you have a current third-party agile certification or have completed a PMI Global Accreditation Center (GAC) program, the experience requirement reduces to 2 years.
- Exam Format Remains the Same: The exam will still be 3 hours long with 120 questions.
- Modernized Question Types: Expect new types of questions designed to better assess practical skills and competencies.
- PDUs Remain Unchanged: You'll still need 30 PDUs to maintain your PMI-ACP certification.
- Exam Cost Unchanged: The cost of the exam remains the same.

*What This Means for You:*
- If You're Already Preparing: Aim to take the exam before November 7th, 2024, to sit for the current format and avoid any surprises.
- If You're Starting Preparation: Enroll in programs that meet the new 28 contact hours requirement and familiarize yourself with the new exam domains.

Thank you!

As the ECO is changing, will the exam preparation products purchased (namely the contact hours course and simulator) be updated to reflect the new exam or will products need to be repurchased?
