The Agile Manifesto Values and Principles for PMI-ACP Success
The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® will test your knowledge of many Agile concepts that cover a wide array of principles, tools, techniques and methods. So how do you know which of these concepts to concentrate on to create the most effective study plan? Well, a good start is to know and fully understand the Values and Principles of the Agile Manifesto. This is because it forms the basis for the majority of Agile concepts and constitutes the absolute minimum amount of knowledge required to correctly answer many questions on the PMI-ACP® Exam.
A fun and effective way of memorizing the underlying concepts behind the 12 Agile Manifesto Principle concepts is to describe each of these principles in two words or less, such as the example below.
Principle 1 - Customer Satisfaction
Principle 2 - Welcomed Changes
Principle 3 - Frequent Delivery
Principle 4 - Collocated Teams
Principle 5 - Motivated Individuals
Principle 6 - Face-to-Face Contact
Principle 7 - Working Software
Principle 8 - Constant Pace
Principle 9 - Continuous Attention
Principle 10 - Simplicity
Principle 11 - Self-Organization
Principle 12 - Regular Reflection
Use this same technique yourself to help you memorize both the 4 Agile Manifesto Values and the 12 Agile Manifesto Principles. Write down each of the values and principles and create terms in two words or less in your own words that describe the underlying concept for each value and principle. You can then get creative by developing your own study exercises from these terms by using them in a Crossword Puzzle, Word Match or Word Search exercise. You can also create flashcards with the full text of the value or principle on one side and the term in two words or less on the flip side, which is always an effective study and memorization technique. When you use your creativity by turning some of your study tasks into games you will not only be able to understand the mandatory concepts to ensure PMI-ACP Exam success but you will also have some fun in the process. So go study, go learn and go play!
