Student Profile: Chaitanya Rekha, PMP
I am Chaitanya Rekha Sirisilla , a graduate in Electronics and Communication engineering. I was working with Multinational companies in India over a period of around five and half years.
It’s been two years since I got married and joined my husband here in Columbus, Indiana.
I always aspired to get PMP Certified based on my experience with previous organizations and involvement in Project Management activities.
With a goal of getting PMP certified, I researched through many websites who can provide me an initial training. I then found JEEES Enterprise Solution, an institute in India to which I enrolled and went through a fast track course. I then started my preparation with PMP Exam Prep, Rita Mulcahy 8th Edition. It was crystal clear in understanding the concepts of project management with knowledge area wise. The first time I read, I gained confidence that I can appear for the exam. I registered in the PMI.org and began my application process. Once the application is approved I booked the exam on Nov 8th 2014. I had 60 days to prepare myself for the final day.
I made out a plan and prepared for the exam. Read PMBOK 5 times, Rita 3 times, practiced ITTOs. In the meanwhile I subscribed to PM Prepcast Quiz. This PM Prepcast exam simulator had been a great help to practice Q&A w.r.t Knowledge area, timed quiz and a 4 hr Final mock exam. I used to review my answers after each quiz to check and verify the answers that I made incorrect. I also went through the particular concept again in PMBOK so that recorrect where my understanding went wrong. I gave little more emphasis on the areas that I am weaker.
Finally the big day has come; my exam slot was at 12:30 PM. I reviewed all formulae, ITTOs, a quick reference to the notes that I have prepared and appeared for the exam. Frankly, 4 hours were not sufficient enough for me the exam. Each question was so different had lot of thinking and correlation to be done before picking up the right answer. My basic concepts with Rita had helped a lot in clearing the exam. I am proud be a PMP certified J
I wish all the PMP aspirants a very good luck to your journey of PMP :-).
